Buddy is on the road this week in Phoenix. We’re here meeting customers, potential partners, and sponsoring the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona’s McDowell Meltdown this weekend.
I’ve also been convinced (it wasn’t hard) to ride in the event, so I brought my bike out, and I have to say that I’m pretty excited. I rode in a couple of events in Virginia last year, but this will be my first experience riding in the desert.
To get ready, I’ve picked the brains of a handful of friendly riders at home, and we’re dropping in on a few bike shops in Phoenix to get some beta. Overall, I’m excited and nervous— as with any first-time event.
Friday, I plan to head out and try to pre-ride the course, or at least get a feel for the terrain. I’m not worried about my overall cycling fitness, but I am a bit trepidatious about some of the climbs. They’re serious!
Going into the race, I know that I’ll have a great time and great stories on the other side, no matter what. It’s also great to start to meet fellow MTBers and outdoor-lovers here. Introducing a thriving, active community to Buddy is why I get up in the morning.
And that is what it’s all about!
If you’ll be at the McDowell Meltdown, stop by Buddy’s tent before the race to meet us and learn about what we’re up to, or you can hit us up on Instagram.
