Buddy is all about living active, outdoor lives. Unfortunately in this day and age, that can be a tough sell for some kids who face a barrage of slicker, faster, and more addicting devices. For us adults who are in a constant battle with our own weekly screen time metrics, can we really blame them?
That’s why, on this Halloween, we say LET KIDS EAT CANDY! Sure, they are packed full of sugar and coloring that rivals a cotton candy marshmallow bubble gum rainbow (is that a thing?), but the mere thought of candy to a child provides a very strategic purpose. That purpose is getting outside and running around the neighborhood with friends.
Yes, we are making the argument that trick-or-treating is a healthy activity. The sheer speed of some of these kids as they sprint from house to house is remarkable. Track coaches should use Halloween as a scouting opportunity to recruit future talent. By the end of the night, what kid isn’t red-faced, sweaty, and tired?
We all know that Americans need more exercise. Perhaps what we really need is...a little more candy?
