Buddy, the Insurtech startup providing the first and only on-demand accident insurance for active people, is opening up a beta version of its partner API to approved developers.
“We recognize that there’s a universe of developers out there building ways to better find, track, and book the activities that keep us healthy and make life worth living,” said David Vogeleer, Buddy’s co-founder and Head of Technology. “Opening up access to Buddy’s on-demand accident insurance via API is part of our mission to make it easier for everyone to be more fearless in their active lives.”
Buddy provides coverage for individuals up to $50,000 in the event of an accident that leads to injury. Coverage is available for as short as a day or as long as a year, and it provides an extra layer of protection in the world of high deductible health insurance.
By using Buddy’s partner API, on-demand accident coverage can be integrated into a signup or booking platform. The coverage appears as a checkbox, similar to what you would see from a travel insurance provider when booking a flight.
When a user opts in for coverage, their policy is purchased with the transaction, and documents are issued instantly, electronically.
Currently, Buddy partners with race organizers, sports associations, and booking providers to deliver on-demand accident insurance to their participants.
